Vol. 19 — August 2026: Removing forever chemicals with Biolargo, and Ofgem’s boost to long-duration battery storage

Environmental engineering firm BioLargo has been undertaking remediation work at Lake Stockholm in the US to remove PFAS, or ‘forever chemicals’. Elsewhere, UK energy regulator Ofgem has delivered a major boost to development of the nation’s long-duration electricity storage (LDES) capabilities, Polish group SGE have announced plans to construct 14 Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and plug-in solar panels will be available to UK households from the end of this month.
